Only three more days!

We leave for the Niagara on Wednesday morning and to say I'm quite excited would be a serious understatement.
My duffel bag is getting alarmingly full, seeing as I haven't yet out in all my clothes, much less all the "extras" that need to squish around the edges. Everything has a place, I know, I'm working on it!
I started work today on a ditty bag as well, so hopefully I'll be able to get that all finished in good time. The sewing part is fine, I just hope that when I get to knotting the strings that hold it it will be an interesting and fun learning process, as opposed to infuriating and futile (ending with a mess of string everywhere).....we'll see. I actually like the sewing though, it's a nice break that forces me to slow down, and focus my attention on something; it's very nice when one is busy to have something like that!

I can't wait to sign on as a trainee! I've been dreaming about this for so long, ever since I first fell in love with ships, and then a few years ago when I went through basic sail training at Jamestown Settlement. But now, a whole month learning and sailing on the brig Niagara! I think it's going to be wonderful.

Whew!

Well, I'm packing. My list is about four pages long and I cannot fathom how I'm going to stuff it all into one (albeit large) duffel bag. We'll see how I do....so far it looks okay.

I got a haircut today also, nice and short for easy maintenance and built in a/c for the summer, which is zipping by at an alarming rate.

Waving Hello!

Well, here goes.
I've made this mainly because I figured it would be a good idea for updating friends and family to what all I've been up to, more specifically this upcoming summer of sailing. I can't wait, I'm most excited about learning square-rigged seamanship and spending time on the water.

So, here's a blog that I can write about and bore everyone with. What fun, what fun!

This posting is mostly a test, to see if I've actually figured this out or not....one never knows with computers, mischievous things that they are, whether they're actually working or putting on a facade. Well, let's hope for the best.
